On Friday 11 September 2026, Adtrans Hino welcomed 128 players customers, partners and friends to Brighton Lakes Golf & Recreation Club in Moorebank for the annual Adtrans Hino Charity Golf Day.
32 Teams taking part brought together a fantastic cross-section of the Adtrans Hino community for a round of golf, plenty of friendly competition and, most importantly, the opportunity to raise funds for two very worthy causes — Family of League and Portia Anderson and her family.
But while there were certainly bragging rights at stake, the day was about far more than the leaderboard. For Adtrans Hino, the annual Charity Golf Day is also an opportunity to bring customers together away from the day-to-day of business — to catch up, enjoy some friendly competition and say thank you for their continued support and partnership.
Plenty of ways to get behind the cause
Fundraising continued throughout the day. There was also an extra challenge waiting for players at Hole 01 with professional golfer Matt Frith. Players were able to donate $20 to Take the Professional’s Drive — with all contributions going directly into the day's fundraising total.
Jackson Aces performs magic
A little magic along the way
After the golf wrapped up, guests were treated to some afternoon entertainment courtesy of Sydney magician and illusionist Jackson Aces, who generously donated his time on behalf of Family of League — including one particularly fitting number trick that symbolised the event.
Supporting Family of League
One of the two causes at the heart of this year's event was Family of League, represented on the day by Doug King, National Manager and volunteer Ken Vessy.
Originally established as Men of League in 2002, Family of League exists to support people within the rugby league community who are doing it tough. The independent grassroots organisation provides financial, social and emotional support, including assistance with surgery, rehabilitation, specialist care, equipment, living costs and wellbeing visits — much of its assistance extends beyond former players. Women, children, volunteers, administrators, referees and others connected with the rugby league community can all find themselves needing support.

Supporting Portia Anderson
The second cause was one especially close to the hearts of those attending the day — Portia Anderson.
Portia's life changed dramatically in May 2022 when, at just 11 months old, she became critically ill with RSV and sepsis. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, where she suffered a cardiac arrest, underwent 54 minutes of CPR. The lack of oxygen during her cardiac arrest resulted in a severe hypoxic brain injury.
Today she lives with severe physical disabilities, including cerebral palsy, requires tube feeding and relies on a tracheostomy for her airway. She also lives with epilepsy, cortical vision impairment, lung disease and other medical complications, leaving Portia with significant and complex ongoing medical needs.
For her family, that commitment brings with it significant ongoing medical, therapy and equipment costs — making the support of the Adtrans Hino community particularly meaningful.
Together you helped raise $53,000
Through entry fees, donations, raffles, auctions, golf challenges and the generosity of everyone who took part, the 2026 Adtrans Hino Charity Golf Day raised a combined $53,000 for Family of League and Portia Anderson.

More than a day of golf
The scorecards may have been handed in, but the real result of the 2026 Adtrans Hino Charity Golf Day was the generosity shown by everyone who took part.
During the presentations, Stewart acknowledged the customers, suppliers, supporters, the Brighton Lakes Golf & Recreation Club team and everyone who donated prizes, money, helped on the day or simply put their hand up when something needed doing.
He also singled out the considerable work that happens behind the scenes to bring an event of this size together. “This doesn't just happen, so thank you to you all.” — Stewart Scoon
It was a simple sentiment that summed up the day perfectly.

Behind the scenes
Golf days might look easy once the first group tees off, but anyone involved in organising one knows how much work happens long before the players arrive.
A special thank you goes to Stewart Scoon, Mark Reynolds and Brett for the enormous amount of planning and coordination behind this year's event.
From organising teams, suppliers and prizes through to auctions, fundraising activities, course arrangements and the countless last-minute details, endless phone calls, endless emails, that come with putting on a major event, there were plenty of hours spent behind the scenes — including more than a few late nights.
Stewart gave Brett a particularly good-natured acknowledgement during the presentations, noting the amount of work he'd done in the background — and joking that he'd also been very good at “harassing us repeatedly to get stuff done.”
Those efforts helped turn months of planning into one very special day.
We look forward to seeing everyone back on the course next year.
